In what turned out to be a thrilling reversal of fortunes, the University of Ilorin overturned their first leg 3-1 deficit against the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)  to advance to the final on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate finish.

Action returned on Tuesday for the second-leg fixtures of the Semi-finals. OAU and JOSTUM played out a 1-1 draw that saw JOSTUM advance to the final of the National University Football Championships, courtesy of their 3-1 first-leg advantage. 

It was the proverbial battle of champions between the UNN team that emerged second in group A against the UNILORIN team that were first in group B. The match was held at the once glorious Akanu Ibiam Stadium at the Coal City, Nsukka. 

The National University Football Championships which began with 10 teams are now down to a final four. The semi-final round of fixtures began with JOSTUM delivering a dominant performance to defeat Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) 3-1 on home soil thus setting the stage for a thrilling return leg. 

The second semi-final brings together UNILORIN and UNN, two formidable teams with contrasting styles but similar ambitions. 

The National University Football Championships Semi-finals are upon us and the stage is set for an exhilarating round of matches that will see University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University (JOSTUM), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) square off in a quest for the title. 

Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), thanks to a commanding performance from striker Abbasnil Abubakar and defender Julius Uchibiyo Ufaruna. 

The teams in group B returned to the pitch for the last round of fixtures. JOSTUM and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) faced off in an highly anticipated clash. Neither side could break the deadlock with the match ending in a goalless draw. The result solidified JOSTUM’s defensive supremacy as they advanced to the knockout stages without conceding a single goal in the entire group stage. 

In what has been a show of grit and consistency, JOSTUM extended their unbeaten run in  Varsity Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory over PAAU. Defender Innocent's 66th-minute strike was enough to seal all three points for the side, positioning them at the top of Group B and setting up a thrilling table-decider. This win means JOSTUM remains the only team in the group yet to concede a goal in the tournament and scoring three goals in total without reply.

Day two of the Varsity Cup Group B fixtures brought a thrilling contest between UNILORIN and ABU Zaria, with the Ilorin boys narrowly clinching a 2-1 win. Both teams came into the game with much to prove, but it was UNILORIN who left with all three points, courtesy of goals from Gbadebo Temitope and the star of the match, Lateef Muritala.

In a game marked by attacking brilliance, JOSTUM clinched a 2-0 victory against Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) with Amodu Unite at the heart of the action, netting both goals and thus ensuring they began their National University Football Championships campaign in winning ways.

Action resumed in the National University Football Championships as Group B teams took to the pitch at the scorching UNILORIN Stadium.
