What is your mission at Varsity Cup?
A consistently viable platform for the country’s brightest student athletes to emerge, grow, and thrive. We believe that the truly talented who put in the work deserve to get results that inspire their peers and communities.
Where are the matches held?
All Varsity Cup matches are held on university campuses. It is launching the 2024 season with Men’s Football that is scheduled for 8 October – 6 November.
How can I watch the matches?
Our broadcasting is digitally led with matches streaming live on YouTube and Facebook, supported by reporting on TV. You can also catch the games in-person at the venues for free, courtesy of our sponsors.
How were the participating 10 universities selected?
We chose the best 10 university teams by considering our objectives and their performances at recent football outings including NUGA and other competitions.
Why is the Varsity Cup Men’s Football trophy called "The Nick"?
The Men’s Football champions’ trophy is named in the memory of Dr. Nick Igbokwe, a distinguished collegiate sportsman, leader of modern collegiate sports in Nigeria and a respected varsity sports administrator in West Africa.
When will you start the Women’s Football category?
It launches in 2025. Announcements will be made soon.
