From the first whistle, it looked like the UNN team were out for blood with fierce tackles against the UNILORIN team who took some minutes to get their bearings. The well timed tackles resulted in no yellow card against the UNN team but a bad retaliation got player No.7 booked for a yellow card for a bad a tackle against the striker in UNN.
The game was a bit balanced with a 52% possession for UNN and 48% for UNILORIN but while the UNN team were clinical in most of their attempts at goal, the UNILORIN players fumbled many chances which saw them losing three goals to one at the end of the match.
The electrifying UNN spectators also bouyed the team to their eventual victory with songs and chants bringing more fireworks into the already tense game.
